Its has been a long time since anyone has posted. Just wanted to let people know that the SD boys and gals are gearing up for the upcoming season. We hit up Great Divide last weekend and it was radtastical. Just stopped in for an update, hopefully we can get some pre season edits up.

Showdown is Open!!!

So now that showdown is open the SD-CRW will be up there every weekend!! i can almost promise that at least one or two of the crew members will be up every weekend.. So if you want to come up come hang out with us... We are usually the loud ones having fun!

Stuff Coming Up In November.

First up on Saturday November 1st there is a TGR premiere of their new movie, Under The Influence, at The Black Eagle Community Center. (thats by Great Falls) I believe the show time is 7 PM and the cost is $5 which includes free keg beer.

Saturday November 8th is the second annual wild wood rail jam held at Great Divide. Its definitely worth going to and information can be found here; http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=31115243013&ref=ts

Saturday the 15th is the Great Falls showing of the finalists from the Banff Mountain Film Festival. It is held at the Civic Center and usually sells out. Merchants such as Kauffmans, Skiers Edge, Big Horn Wilderness, or any ski patrolmen can sell tickets in advance.

So here it is.. im actualy trying to make a post... Here goes nothing!

This is just a little video i made this summer, it took me a total of probably a guesstamated time of around 4 hours or so... yeah im verry slow... Anywho this video features the talents of Kip, Andy, Pat, Derek, Bronson, Drew, TJ (me), Ty, Veggie Dave!!!!!, and uhhh i think thats it.

This video was filmed mainly at Showdown, MT but there is some of Jewel Basin (i think one shot that is of Veggie Dave skiing fakie down a sick line! And then there is some footage of Whistler/Blackcomb in it. Soooooooo Enjoy!

I recently started editing the footage from the 06/07 and 07/08 seasons. This is a short edit I made, about 3 hours into the editing of the movie. All the cuts are rough and quality really sucks. Locations include Big Sky, Big Mountain, Great Divide, Showdown, Jewel Basin, Glacier Park, Bridger Bowl, Great Falls, all in Montana and Sheridan, Jackson Hole, and top secret BC spots in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.

Hello my lovely blogging friends. This post is going to be a little bit random. I have yet to add a post so i figured i could. so basically summer is officially over due to everyone leaving or going back to school. well u know what that means...In a couple months the SD-CREW will be hitting the slopes again. I dunno if any blogger friends are interested but I'm looking to make some shirts of our crew. Hopefully this will happen within the next few months so we can have some product while we ski/board. When the full length video is done it will be available on DVD and have probably most of this footage in it as well.

Friday July 25, TJ, Andy, Pat, Derrick, Kyle, Kevin, Sam, and myself departed for Glacier National Park. We had the van loaded to the brim with ski gear, camping gear, longboards, and other knick knacks. Big ups to the Ferrins for letting us use their van!

Browning can be a scary place or a hilarious place any time of the day especially on the weekend. In our case it turned out to be hilarious. Check out the drunk we met at the gas station.

We made it to camp at St Mary in good time. We ended up setting up camp in the dark which is never any fun. Since most of us slept outside we got up early and cooked a good hardy camp breakfast.

We made good time up the pass and started hiking up the boardwalk around 10 AM.

We met up with Jake from Lewistown that morning in the parking lot. The walk to the snow took about 15 minutes. After we booted up, we split up to scout out jump building spots. Pat, Derek, and I hiked to a nose where we could see down into Hidden Lake. The view up there was amazing but the only jump spot we found would require a ton of work. We skied a short line and then hiked back to the rest of the group. When we got back to the other spot they already had a nice jump waiting for us.

Pat, Derek and Kevin decided they wanted to build a step up. They spent the rest of the day, about 3 hours shoveling snow for a take off. Meanwhile TJ and I built a small lip on the bank that was their landing to play on. That lip eventually became padding for Pat coming up short the next day.

By 2 PM the snow was getting way to slow to keep hitting our jumps so we decided to head back to camp. On the way back to the boardwalk we found a fun boulder/drop to play on and that was fun. One of the goals of the weekend was to get as many epic high fives as possible. When you are in a national park with ski gear on this is incredibly easy.

We stopped for a swim on the way back in the frigid waters of St Mary Lake. Jake found a pretty nice cliff to jump off of. Mad props for guinea pigging it. We went back to camp so TJ, Derek, Pat, and Kevin could longboard to St Mary village.

At the ice cream parlor, I got this girls phone number named Eve from Chicago. She promised to come back to camp later that night when she got off work but she turned out to be a liar.

Back at camp:

That night, 5 of us slept outside around the fire so we thought it would be prudent to keep the fire going all night. After all it was attended. I woke up at about 3 in the morning and it was roaring. Andy said he stoked it a few times during the night.
The next morning we got up and started cooking breakfast and breaking down camp. This guy from Florida made his way into our camp (sorry if I forgot your name, I dont think we ever exchanged names). He couldnt believe we were skiing and took some pictures with us. He was also equally amazed that we were drinking Moose Drool so we gave him a bottle of it. He is part of a camp called Camp Fly Rod. Their mission is to help kids with disabilities do outdoor activities. The guy was a bad ass and one of those people you had to be there to understand what I mean. He was riding a BMW cruiser bike and wheelied past our camp site.
We got up the pass a little later that morning and barely were able to find a parking spot. We also got to witness some near roadrage in the parking lot. As soon as we got to the jump spots Pat took the big jump first hit. He came about 6 feet short and from above it looked like he could have been hurt badly. Luckily he just laughed about it. Due to the slow snow, no one else hit the big jump that day.

Throughout the day it got cloudy, windy, and the snow got slower. The jumps didnt really go off to much. We were hiking nearly twice as high and not boosting as high as the day before. It was a perfect day to head for steeper terrain. I stayed behind and manned the video camera and worked on my misties but it looked like a fun line.

Due to the slow conditions we headed back down, it was still a good day none the less. We stopped to session the rocks on the way down and Pat and I buttered across the boardwalk to the surprise of the tourists. After we got down to the parking lot we continued our odyssey of epic high fives.

Then we stopped in St Mary so I could get an epic high five from Eve and take care of some other business.

On the way back to Browning we played this horrible game called cook out, dont ever play it. To play you roll up all the windows and turn the heat on. This game sucks with 8 sweaty guys. To try and pass time I fell asleep with my arm on the back of the seat. Pat was sitting behind me singing my arm hair with a lighter. To set him straight I grabbed a can of bug spray and the next time he did it I sprayed the bug spray into the flame. It burned my arm pretty good but it also lit him on fire so I won.

SD Crew Skis in June!

On June 14, I went to Showdown with my girlfriend Tasha, Drew, his girlfriend Isis, Pat, Derek, and TJ. We had fun basking in the sun, watching the snow melt and sessioning a down rail, and a flat to up rail. I guess they still have a little snow but it is melting fast.

The next weekend, Drew and I went to Kalispell to shred Jewel Basin with Veggie Dave. This a ridge line looking into the Basin with MT Aeneas towards the right.

Due to high Avalanche conditions, we stuck to some lower angle stuff on the other side (west) of the ridge. On the first day we skied this line with a mandatory short straight line into some avalanche debris. Drew managed to hit a tree and tweak his knee. After that we built a small jump on the bottom where Dave stomped the first backflip ever on ON3Ps! After we played on that for a while we hiked back to the top where I snapped that pic with my phone. We skied the same line again and were able to ski within a 1/4 mile of my car (There was 6' of snow in the parking lot still) On the way down we surprised a couple sitting on a log.

That night, Daves friend, Chris, came in from Cali. The next day, the 4 of us headed up to the trailhead and met up with Colin and two of his friends (sorry, forgot your names). We hiked up and played around on a small face with a small cornice on top leading into a small windlip on the bottom. We skied that for a while and built a small jump suitable for butters. Later we descended down the front of the ridge like a small army. Drew was on foot after tweaking his knee the day before. He somehow managed to fall in a tree well and lose his $2000 camera. We eventually found it. After we got to the bottom we built a small tree jib and sessioned it until Drew made it down. Dave also let me ride his ON3Ps. They were sick and made me that much more stoked to get mine!

After day 2 Drew and I got lost in Columbia Falls trying to find some CHinese restaraunt to eat diner with my friend Alicia. After we finally found it we realized it was closed. We ate at a Mexican restaraunt and finally got on the road around 9. I was lucky enough to have to work at 8 the next morning. Oh well we got some epic shreddages in.
